There's a particular brand of discomfort that hits when you stretch the muscles on the front of your thigh and the region where your leg meets your pelvis simultaneously. It's the kind of sensation that makes your face do things you can't control and produces sounds you didn't know you were capable of making. The belly-down front-thigh pull delivers this experience in spades, and somehow you keep coming back for more because it works.

Lie face-down on the floor — yes, like a beached whale, embrace it — and loop a rope, belt, or elastic band around one foot.
